The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has announced a seven-hour traffic restriction on Dhaka's Airport Road, beginning Friday night and extending to early Saturday morning.
CAAB issued a statement saying all vehicular movement on Airport Road will be halted from 11pm on Friday to 6am on Saturday due to ongoing flyover construction near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport's third terminal.
Heavy and freight vehicles are advised to plan their routes using alternative roads during this time.
This restriction mirrors previous ones, such as the seven-hour closure on April 28, which was also due to construction activities.
On March 28, authorities announced a series of seven-hour restrictions on Fridays from March 31 to June 24 due to construction work.
CAAB reported that over 70% of the construction work of the third terminal has been completed as of March this year.
Officials anticipate a soft launch of the eagerly awaited terminal by October this year.
Once operational, the new terminal is expected to double the passenger capacity of Dhaka airport, according to officials.
