Police recovered the hanging body of an unidentified young woman from Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Friday morning.
The woman, believed to be around 25 years old, was known to many in the park area by the name "Akhi". However, her identity could not be confirmed yet.
Confirming the matter, Shahbagh police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Iqbal Hossain said that pedestrians spotted the woman hanging from a Bakul tree near the Ramna Kali Mandir in Suhrawardy Udyan.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for an autopsy in the afternoon, he added.
Police initially assumed that the woman might have committed suicide.
Efforts are underway to identify the deceased, he added.
