The traders of Bangabazar who had lost everything to the devastating fire on Tuesday will receive financial support before Eit-ul-Fitr.
Dhaka Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Mohammad Mominur Rahman announced this on Sunday during a view exchange program at the Dhaka district administration conference room.
He said the Dhaka district administration will provide each affected individual with cash assistance of Tk7,500 and food supplies.
Bangla TribuneMominur Rahman said a list of those affected in the Bangabazar fire is being prepared and nearly 1,500 people have registered.
“After the list is being prepared, each affected individual, even the hawkers, will receive food supplies and Tk7,500 as assistance,” he said.
The deputy commissioner said the registration booth would remain open until Monday and if necessary, the registration deadline would be extended.
“We are coordinating with those who want to provide assistance privately. Bidyanondo Foundation has already reached out to us. We are making a list to ensure that the same affected person does not receive assistance repeatedly and that the aid reaches everyone equally,” he said.
“Private organizations will provide assistance based on that list and the aid from the Prime Minister will also be distributed according to the list,” added Mominur Rahman.
