4 injured in Dhaka’s Kaptan Bazar fire

At least four people sustained burn injuries in a fire that broke out in the South City Corporation (DSCC) sweeper colony under the Hanif flyover near Kaptan Bazar and Joy Kali Mandir area in Dhaka early Monday. 

They are currently undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.  

The injured are Geeta Rani Dey, 64, Kanta Rani, 60, Raju, 36 and Afzal Hossain, 52. 

Confirming the information, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-Charge Md Bacchu Mia said they are currently admitted in the emergency department of the burn institute. 

However, their injures are not serious, he said. 

Earlier, seven firefighting units brought the flames under control after over an hour of effort.
