Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday started its anti-mosquito drive in all 54 wards under its jurisdiction.
The operations will continue for a week (except Friday) due to the increase of Culex mosquitoes.
This special campaign will continue till March 25.
Bangla TribuneAt the event, Mayor Atiqul said: “Another purpose of this special campaign is to make people aware. The surroundings of the house should be kept clean. We can control mosquitoes only if people are aware and perform their duties along with the city corporation.”
DNCC Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Jobaidur Rahman said: "We are conducting mosquito eradication drives every day. Now the rainy season has started. Therefore, we have started a week-long special mosquito eradication program in addition to our routine work.
Bangla TribuneAccording to the DNCC, In the special mosquito control program, each ward will be divided into six sections in a 400X400 grid system and intensive larviciding and fogging operations will be conducted in each section for one day.
All hotspots identified as breeding grounds for mosquitoes will be applied extensively and removal of hotspots where necessary.
