Gulistan blast: Bodies being handed over to relatives

Dhaka district administration has started handing over the bodies of those who died in Tuesday's explosion in the capital's Gulistan to their families.

Nezarat Deputy Collector (NDC) Md Rahmatullah at around 11:30pm on Tuesday said: “We have already received 15 applications for the dead bodies. We handed over a body to the deceased's relative some time ago. The remaining bodies will be handed over when the paperwork is done.”

The explosion at a seven-storey building on Tuesday afternoon has so far claimed the lives of 17 people.

Officials fear the death toll will likely increase as many of those rescued are critically injured.
