Vehicles fined in Gulshan for noise pollution

The Department of Environment (DoE) fined six cars and warned several others for noise pollution during a special drive in the capital's Gulshan-1 area on Monday.

As part of a drive, titled “Participatory Project to Control Noise Pollution”, a team led by Mohammad Mamun Mia, director of DoE (Dhaka metropolitan), conducted the raid and collected fines worth Tk32,000.

The vehicle owners were fined for using hydraulic horns, said Mohammad Mamun Mia.

He said that similar drives will be carried out across the country to bring down the level of noise pollution.

Gulshan Society assisted the DoE during the drive in the area. President of the society and former election commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda stressed raising awareness among people in order to bring down the level of noise pollution in the country.

He also urged the owners of vehicles and construction sites to step up in this regard.
