Food Safety Authority returns from Bashundhara City without conducting drive

Bangladesh Food Safety Authority management team had to return from Bashundhara City Shopping Complex food court without conducting their drive after being blocked by security personnel and the market authorities Wednesday afternoon.

Sources said that the market authorities vandalized the cameras of RTV when they tried to collect news and take pictures of the incident.

At the same time, they attacked various media workers.

RTV reporter AR Badal said: “The Food Safety Authority took us there as they were going to conduct an operation there. While conducting the operation, the security personnel of the market stopped the operation.”

“At the same time, the media workers were asked to turn off the cameras. Our cameras were tampered with and vandalized. They also cornered the magistrate. Then the mobile court was forced to go back from there,” he added.

Earlier, they found unsanitary environment and expired food in several shops during the operation. The security personnel told the BFSA members that the operation could not be carried out without permission. However, BFSA officials have repeatedly said that they do not need permission to conduct operations.

Abdus Sobhan, deputy director of BFSA, along with the executive magistrate, returned from there and said that the next decision will be taken after talking to the higher authorities.
