21 vehicles, 15 establishments fined in anti-air pollution drives in Dhaka

The authorities have slapped 21 vehicles and 15 establishments in Dhaka with different amounts of fines as part of the government's efforts to curb air pollution throughout Bangladesh.

The vehicles were fined a total of Tk34,300 and the establishments Tk77,000 in drives carried out by the Department of Environment and the district administration in Dhanmondi, Mohammadpur, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Shyampur and Jatrabari on Tuesday.

The DoE said the institutions had left construction materials out in the open and the vehicles had been emitting black smoke, polluting the air of the capital.
