Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has said two new routes – 24 and 25 – of Dhaka Nagar Paribahan will be launched in coordination with MRT (Mass Rapid Transit).
The DSCC mayor said that 50 more buses will be plying the two routes from Dhaka's Ghatarchar to Uttara's Diabari within the next five months.
Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, also president of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee (BRRC), was speaking to reporters after the 26th meeting of the committee at Buriganga Hall of Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.
The DSCC mayor said that about 30,000 passengers are travelling on routes 21, 26 and 22 of Nagar Paribahan on a daily basis.
After launching the service, the income has been more than Tk7 crore so far.
“Meanwhile, the MRT has been launched. So we decided to launch two new routes in coordination with MRT,” said Taposh.
“In that context, I have discussed and reviewed the details of the new two routes in the meeting,” added the mayor.
Route 24
Ghatarchar-Bosila-Mohammadpur bus stand-Shishu Mela-Agargaon-Mirpur 10 via Kalshi Flyover to Airport-Jasimuddin-Abdullahpur.
Route 25
Ghatarchar-Bosila-Mohammadpur bus stand-Asadgate-Manik Mia Avenue via Khamarbari and exit via Bijay Sarani to Jahangir Gate-Shahin School-Mohakhali (down, not via flyover)-Kakoli-Banani flyover via Regency-Airport-Jasimuddin-Abdullahpur.
