Over 700 more buses to offer e-ticket from Tuesday

Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association has announced to launch e-ticketing services for 711 buses under 15 companies based on the Mohammadpur-Azimpur route from Tuesday.

Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association's General Secretary Khandaker Enayet Ullah disclosed the information at a press conference on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.

“We have experimentally launched e-ticketing system in 13,643 buses of 30 companies respectively on September 22 and November 13. The system has been implemented in 70%-75% of buses of the mentioned 30 companies,” said Enayet Ullah.

“Special checkers appointed by the association have been monitoring the road daily since then. Actions are being taken against vehicles that have yet to come under the e-ticketing system,” he said.

“Passengers complained that the e-tickets do not mention kilometers according to the distance. We have requested BRTA to prepare a fare chart. We will mention the distance on the device when the fare chart is prepared,” he added.

Some 5,650 buses under 97 companies run in Dhaka and its suburbs.

Among them, 3,014 buses ply within the capital. The rest branch out to Dhaka and surrounding districts and upazilas.

The e-ticketing service on the buses was introduced to reduce the hassles of passengers and ensure tickets at fair prices.
