Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has said gymnasiums will be constructed in every ward of the city corporation.
The mayor was addressing a meeting after the approval of “DSCC Gymnasiums Management Policy 2022” at Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday.
"In the 75 wards there are now 17 gymnasiums. Every ward should have a gymnasium and a place for social events. For that reason, I am starting a new endeavour. There is a plan to build 36 new community centres. At the moment, we have 35 venues for social events.”
The DSCC Mayor continued: "Most of our gymnasiums are in a sorry state. They are managed to some extent with the help of councillors. It has to be ensured that they are used for the welfare of the youth and people according to sound management and action planning. It is mainly welfare and social development work; we do not want to earn much revenue from these establishments”
