At least two people were injured in a clash between Bangladesh Chhatra Dal and Bangladesh Awami Jubo League in Dhaka's Jatrabari area.
The clash broke out at around 8:30pm on Friday on Shahid Faruk road.
One of the injured is Jubo League leader, Shamim Ahmed, 45. He is also the general secretary candidate of Awami League in Ward No 50 under Jatrabari police station.
Shamim Ahmed has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, said Officer-in-Charge of DMCH police outpost Bacchu Mia.
Injured Shamim's nephew, Zahid Hasan, said that Jubo League held a meeting in front of Sony Tower on Friday evening.
“A cocktail exploded when Shamim Ahmed was giving a speech at the meeting. A part of the cocktail fell on Shamim Ahmed's leg,” he added.
He also alleged that activists of Chhatra Dal were behind the attack because they were carrying out a procession in the same area at that time.
After the cocktail explosion, a fight broke out between the two groups, where Shamim Ahmed was beaten with sticks.
