The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized an orientation program for Fall 2022 on Saturday to welcome the newest members of the family. The new students were welcomed to their department and given a preview of four years of exciting journey they would undertake.
Professor Jude William Genilo, head of Media Studies and Journalism department, greeted the newcomers with his welcoming and motivating speech stating their future role in society and in media industry of Bangladesh.
“The more people who believe in you and invest in you, the more successful you will be. That's why it is emphasized how important the success circle is. You should not care about those people who are not in the success circle. Do not listen to what haters say,” he told the newcomers.
At the event, the MSJ faculty members also introduced themselves and talked about their points of view to shed light on the importance of ULAB MSJ department in creating skilled media and PR professionals in Bangladesh. By using Mentimeter online software, Assistant Professor Dr Mohammad Shazzad Hossain explored the demographic information of freshers, while Associate Professor Dr Sarkar Barbaq Quarmal shared the history and mission of the department. Senior Lecturer Muhammad Aminuzzaman talked about the importance of portfolio creation in undergraduate program.
A video screening session was arranged while concluding the session to display some of the outstanding creative communications and digital projects of current and previous students'.
