Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader's mobile was snatched as he was in the middle of a phone call near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area in Dhaka on Wednesday night.
Md Toyob, assistant personal secretary of GM Quader, filed a case with Airport police station in this regard on Thursday.
At 11pm on Wednesday, the Jatiya Party leader opened the window of his private car as the air conditioner was not working. A young man then snatched his phone and fled the scene, police said.
Aslam Uddin, inspector (Investigation) of Airport police station, said the car was moving slowly during the incident.
Police have yet to recover the mobile phone. However, one person was detained in this connection, he added.
In 2021, the mobile phone of Planning Minister MA Mannan was also snatched by muggers in a similar way.
