A student of Brac University died after falling from the rooftop of her house in the capital’s Dakshinkhan area on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified 21-year-old Sanjana, a third semester student of the university.
Sanjana left a note before allegedly jumping off the 10th floor of the building, Dakshinkhan police station OC Mamunur Rashid said.
She blamed her father of being an abuser, and a rapist in the note, he added.
The note reads: “My father is responsible for my death. One can live with animals, but not with nonhumans. He is an abusive rapist who didn't even spare the house help. I am the beginning of his tragic fate.”
Bangla TribuneOC Rashid further mentioned that it has been two months since the girl’s mother divorced her father as he, Shahin Alam, secretly got married five years ago.
Alam stopped paying Sanjana’s tuition fees after the divorce, he added.
Police also claimed to have found Sanjana’s prescription where she showed signs of suicidal tendencies.
The body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
