A Dhaka court has framed charges against suspended assistant professor of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Dr Salauddin Chowdhury, in a case filed over sexually harassing a female student.

Judge Al Mamun of Dhaka’s Sixth Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal framed the charges against him, rejecting his discharge petition on Wednesday.

The tribunal also set October 3 to start recording the testimonies of prosecution witnesses in the case.

The victim’s lawyer Fahmida Akhter Rinky, a member of Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers' Association confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Ramna Police Sub-Inspector Salman Rahman, also the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet on February 6 to Dhaka chief metropolitan Magistrate court.

Dr Salauddin was sent to jail on December 30 last year after a court rejected both his remand and bail prayers in the case.

On January 13, Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shafiuddin Ahmed granted him bail.

On December 29, 2021, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Salauddin after a student filed a case against him under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act.
