The fire service has yet to fully extinguish a massive fire that swept through the Bangabazar wholesale clothing market early on Tuesday.
It had been 16 hours since the blaze engulfed the market and 48 firefighting units were still making frantic efforts to douse it, fire service duty officer Md Ershad said.
It was hard to say how much longer it would take to put out the flames, he told Dhaka Tribune.
The fire started spreading again in the evening, after it had been brought under control just after noon.
The fire broke out at Bangabazar at 6:10am and burnt the complex to the ground in hours.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage have yet to be determined, and the Dhaka South City Corporation and the fire service have formed two separate panels to probe into the incident.
