On Sunday, 5th February, 2023 from 3-4.30pm, artist Omar A. Chowdhury and Ke ba kahara Curatorial Collective will present a performance and art installation, ‘Faydabad For Sale' at 505/1 Kathaltola Road, Faydabad, Dakshin Khan, Dhaka. This Dhaka Art Summit 2023 collateral event was commissioned by and curated by Ke ba kahara Curatorial Collective. It is free and open for all.
CourtesyMelding Dhaka metal music and neglected architecture, Faydabad For Sale is at the site of a building by renowned architect Marina Tabassum. The performance uncovers a tangled narrative of an imported modernism and its obsolescence by the contemporary aesthetic of Bangladesh's voracious new rise. Through a choreography of architectural interventions, moving images, guitar score, and performance, a speculative present is enacted that is haunted by doubt, private regret and ruinous anticipation. It features performers: Mihad Ibne Alam, Tristan Haque, Rakib Hossain Evon, Satej Chowdhury, Md. Abdul Kadir, Nabil Shahidi, Samiul Sabbir Islam, and Kazi Roksana Ruma.
The exhibition takes place at Rouf's Villa, Faydabad and can be reached by car, bus, or other public transport via Uttara House Building, or via Abdullahpur Bus Stand.
