No autorickshaws will be allowed to ply the roads of areas under the Dhaka North City Corporation from October 1.
The DNCC in a notice on Wednesday said it had taken the decision to save on energy.
The recharging of the countless illegal autorickshaws on the streets of Dhaka North uses a lot of electricity, the notice reads.
The government had taken necessary steps for the conservation of power, the DNCC added.
Anyone flouting the directive would face legal action, it warned.
