Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Sunday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ordered prompt medical care to the burn victims of the Chittagong depot fire incident.
Awami League Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak UNBHe made the remarks while visiting the victims of the horrific fire at Sitakunda undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
He said the premier directed the Chhatra League leaders and activists to extend maximum cooperation to the victims. “The Chhatra League leaders will donate blood wherever needed.”
Asked about the message from the prime minister, Nanak said: "Sheikh Hasina has been inquiring into the matter since Saturday midnight. She is in constant touch with the doctors in charge of the burn unit.
“On the other hand, those who were injured in Chittagong, Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, party's advisory council member Ruhul Haque and Health-Population Affairs Secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana have been given special responsibility for this.”
Nanak further said that the premier has also instructed Dr Samanta Lal Sen, in charge of the burn unit, to go visit the injured in Chittagong.
A three-member team of doctors will visit the injured in the port city on Monday.
