A 72-year-old man was killed in Dhaka’s Kalabagan area when a bus hit him in the early hours of Monday.
The deceased was identified as Uzir Uddin Ahmed, a local businessman.
The incident took place near Anwar Khan Modern Hospital’s staff quarter at around 7am, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Saidur Rahman of Kalabagan police station.
“Uzir Uddin was talking to a CNG-run autorickshaw driver, when a Savar-bound bus hit the vehicle. The CNG later hit the victim,” the SI said.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s emergency department with severe head injuries, where the doctors pronounced him dead, said Uzir Uddin’s son Abdul Majed Ahmed.
The bus and CNG were seized from the spot, but the bus driver managed to flee.
The autorickshaw driver, Chan Mia, also suffered slight injuries during the incident and was given primary treatment.
