Army Chief General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed on Saturday visited the bank conservation project of the Padma River from Majhirchar under Dohar Upazila of Dhaka to Moksedpur via Narisha Bazar.
During the visit, Advisor to the prime minister on Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman, senior army officials and local dignitaries were present, said an ISPR press release.
Shafiuddin Ahmed expressed satisfaction at the progress of the project and provided necessary directions.
Under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the bank protection project of the Padma River from Majhirchar under Dohar upazila to Moksedpur via Narisha Bazar upstream of the upazila is under the 25 Engineer Construction Brigade of the Bangladesh Army.
In order to achieve the status of a developed country, the present government is giving priority to industrialization as per the vision-2041.
The present government has adopted a plan of industrialization by building an economic zone in Dohar, Dhaka.
The project was approved by Ecnec on September 10, 2016, while the implementation work of the project was started by the 25 Engineer Construction Battalion in April 2019.
Bangladesh Army is working to implement the project which would pave the way the development of Dohar Economic Zone and the socio-economic development of the people of the region, the release added.
