Police recovered the body of a young woman buried in the capital’s Khilkhet area on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sharmin Begum, 36, hailing from Mymensingh.
Ashaduzzaman, deputy police commissioner (Gulshan division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, confirmed the matter to Bengali Tribune.
He said: "We have confirmed the identity of the body. However, we did not find any CCTV footage related to her burial. We are examining the movement of various vehicles and people from the footage of the nearby areas.”
Meanwhile, Khilkhet police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Munshi Sabbir Ahmed said that they have traced the address of the deceased.
He added that attempts are being made to contact the family members of the deceased on the basis of various sources of information.
Sub-Inspector Sohrab Hossain, who recovered the body and brought it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, said the autopsy report suggested that the woman was killed by suffocation.
The body will be kept at the hospital till it is handed over to the family members, police said.
