A 12-year-old boy died on Sunday falling from the rooftop of an under-construction five-storey building in Dhaka’s Demra staff quarter area while flying a kite.
The deceased was identified as Md Kawsar Ali,12. He was the son of Ahmed Ali, a security guard of the building.
The incident took place near Bamoin Paiti area around 10am.
The victim’s father Ahmed Ali said Kawsar along with his brother Omar Faruq, 6, went to fly a kite on the rooftop where Kawsar slipped and fell down through the open space for installing lift.
He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition where the on-duty doctors announced him dead.
The body was sent for an autopsy, said Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
