A 25-year-old man was killed as a truck hit an auto-rickshaw in Dhaka’s Paltan area early on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as poultry trader Md Shohag, of Noakhali district.
A witness said when Shohag was carrying some poultry birds in a battery-run auto-rickshaw a truck hit the vehicle in front of the Rajuk building on his way to Khilgaon in the early hours of Wednesday.
He fell off the auto-rickshaw and suffered injuries.
Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead, said Md Bachchu Mia, in charge (inspector) of the DMCH police outpost.
The body was kept at DMCH morgue for an autopsy, he added.
