Badda woman dies in fire that killed husband

A woman succumbed to her burn injuries in a home fire, five days after her husband died.

Rekha, 35, died while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute unit on Monday morning.

She had sustained 30% burn injuries, according to Bacchu Mia, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost.

Meanwhile, Rekha’s husband, who had sustained critical injuries himself, died on March 23.

Their children, Safa, 9 and Shafian, 11, are undergoing treatment for 11% and 25% burn injuries.

All four family members were injured after a fire broke out in Dhaka’s Badda following a gas cylinder explosion on March 23.

Fire Service told reporters that a leak in the gas supply line in the flat might have caused the fire.
