A Chhatra League leader was injured at the Central Shaheed Minar in an attack by another member of the ruling party’s student body while paying homage to language heroes on Monday.
The injured, Ehsanul Haque Yasir, is a former leader of Dhaka city (south) unit Chhatra League. The accused, Benzir Hossain Nishi, is the joint general secretary of the central committee.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Benazir denied the allegations of attacking Yasir.
The injured received first aid treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to witnesses, the fight broke out among some members of the Chhatra League at the Central Shaheed Minar. A number of the Chhatra League members were armed with bamboo sticks, they added.
