Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked authorities concerned to construct waste treatment plants outside the city to reduce environmental pollution.
She gave the instruction at the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) meeting on Tuesday.
While briefing journalists after the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan said the prime minister had instructed to set up waste treatment plant of the city corporation outside the locality.
At the same time, she directed the city corporation to appoint skilled drivers for waste vehicles, he added.
The premier gave the directive while giving approval to the proposal of “Reduce traffic congestion in Dhaka South City Corporation's affiliated areas through waste removal and management, procurement of modern vehicles and equipment used for road repairs and installation of mechanized parking” project with Tk333.32 crore.
