Police: Three held in Gazipur for raping college girl in captivity for 8 days

Police arrested three men on charges raping a college girl in captivity for eight days in Gazipur’s Konabari. 

The arrests were made late on Tuesday during raids at Chandona-Chourasta and Konabari, said Konabari Police OC Abu Siddique. 

Suspects Khokon Biswas aka Shanto, 37, Nazmul Islam Akondo, 30, and Khokon Ali, 37, were sent to jail on Wednesday afternoon, said police. 

The survivor, a second semester student at Borak Polytechnic Institute, got acquainted with Shanto over phone two months ago, said OC Siddique. “On January 12, he called her to Konabari bus stand from where he and his accomplices tactfully made her get in a car.”

According to the OC, Shanto took the girl to a house in Konabari’s Deuliyabari and raped her for eight days. 

He also took Tk2.5 lakhs, mobile phone and gold jewelry from the girl, said police.

On January 19, she managed to escape and make her way to Zirabo, where she was living with her relatives. 

On February 1, she filed a case against the three men after collecting their full information.
