A 14-year-old girl has died after reportedly hanging herself in her home at Mirpur in the capital.
The deceased, Mahi Khan, a seventh-grade student at Mirpur’s Adarsha Bidyaniketan School was living with her uncle at Mirpur-6.
Her guardians took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Emergency after recovering her body, confirmed DMCH police outpost In-Charge Bacchu Mia.
The doctors declared her dead at around 7:45 pm.

“She went to the coaching on Wednesday. After she returned, she shut her door without speaking to anyone,” her uncle Ataur Rahman told Dhaka Tribune.
He added that they called her after a while. As she did not respond, they broke into the room only to find her hanging body.
According to Ataur, the deceased’s father had a speaking disability while her mother died when she was a child. She had been living with him since.
