A man died after falling off the roof of a six-storey building in Dhaka’s Agargaon area on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased is Ariful Islam Shanto, 23, hailed from Shankarpasha village under Habiganj district and was a construction worker of the Metro Rail project, confirmed Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-charge Inspector Bacchu Miah.
Uncle of the deceased, Abdul Hannan said Shanto was supposed to be on his shift in the metro rail construction project on Saturday night.
However, Shanto accidentally fell off the rooftop where he went to talk over the phone after lunch on Saturday, he said, quoting the victim’s roommates.
He was rushed to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital (ShSMCH) first, later to the DMCH.
He died around 9pm Saturday while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Inspector Bacchu Miah said the body had been kept in the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
