Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have detained nine youths of a group, named “Sezan Gang”, from the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area with locally made weapons.
The accused, aged between 16 and 19 years, were picked up by the elite force on Saturday night during a raid, RAB-2 Assistant Director (Media) Md Fazlul Huq told Bangla Tribune.
RAB seized four mobile phones, two knives, four daggers, and three razor blades during the raid.
Calling themselves members of “Sezan Gang,” the detainees were involved in crimes including mugging, extortion as well as misusing social media to spread fear and chaos among the locals, he said. They were also involved in armed clashes with other gangs.
The arrests were made as part of RAB’s regular drives against the teenage and youth gangs of the capital and elsewhere.
