The mobile phone of Planning Minister MA Mannan was snatched on Sunday.
The incident happened at Dhaka's Bijoy Sarani area while the minister was talking on the phone in his car.
Mannan, while speaking to the reporters following an Ecnec meeting at the Planning Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday, said: “It takes a person few seconds to understand and comprehend something.”
“The windows of my car were rolled down. I was on my phone when suddenly a mugger snatched it and quickly fled the scene.
“I told my gunman to chase and catch the mugger. However, his efforts went in vain.”
The personal secretary of the minister filed a case with Kafrul police station over the incident.
Confirming the matter, Selimuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Kafrul police station, said: "The mugger snatched the minister’s phone through a lowered window of the SUV and ran away."
Police found neither the snatcher nor the phone until Tuesday afternoon, reports UNB.
“We are trying to arrest the culprit and recover the phone as soon as possible.” Selimuzzaman said adding “an investigation is underway.”
