Covid-19 patient falls to death at Mugda hospital

The body of a Covid-19 patient was recovered from Mugda Medical College Hospital premises after he fell from the building on Friday night.

Mugda police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Proloy Kumar Saha said a note was recovered from cabin 1106 of the hospital, where the patient had been admitted since April 9.

“The note was vague. It only said that ‘I chose the path of suicide as per my will, let me be buried in the Muslim manner’,” the OC said, adding that the body had been sent to the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue for autopsy.

The deceased was around 50 years old, unmarried, unemployed, and had no close relatives in Dhaka. He used to work at a private organization.

A distant relative who works at the hospital had admitted the patient there and attended the body at DMC.

“We have learned that the deceased had an elder brother, also unmarried, who died a few days ago,” the OC said. “We believe the patient was from Comilla, but we have not verified this yet.
