12-year-old child’s throat-slit body found in Dhaka home

A 12-year-old child’s body was found, with his throat slit, at a house in Dhaka’s Wari area on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Md Hasan by his family and police.

Wari police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Asaduzzaman said they recovered the child’s body from a flat on the fifth floor of a building on Wari’s Padmanidhi Lane.

Later, the body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy.

Police suspect that some robbers killed the child after looting money and gold jewellery from the house, where Hasan has been living with his aunt Ayesha Aktar and her family for the past few years.

Ayesha, her husband Jamal Miah and their 12-year-old son Aziz were all out of the house at the time of the incident, said Hasan’s uncle Sobhanlal.

He said: “They found Hasan’s bloodied body under his bed’s mattress after they returned home and informed the police. They also said they are missing Tk95,000 cash and eight bhoris of gold jewellery.”

A suspect has been detained by police and is being questioned. Police did not identify him.
