An RMG worker was reportedly raped inside a bus in Gazipur by its driver.
The crime was aided by the woman’s husband, claimed the rape survivor, in the case filed with Sreepur police station over the incident on Monday.
Police have already arrested the prime accused, bus driver Frauk Hossain, 30, while the other accused in the case, Sohel Rana, 22, the survivor’s husband, is on the run.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur police station Khandaker Imam Hossain said: “The case was filed at around 8:30pm on Monday.
“The survivor has accused her husband of aiding in the rape. We have arrested the main accused Faruk. He has been sent to court.”
According to the case dockets, the survivor, an RMG worker at a local factory, got married to Sohel three months ago. Following the marriage, they increasingly got into disputes over family issues.
At around 6pm on Saturday, the survivor’s husband, Sohel, called his friend, prime accused Faruk, to their house and told him to drop her off at her father’s place located in the Maona intersection area.
Then at around 12:30am on Sunday, when the bus carrying other RMG workers got empty except for the victim, Faruk raped the survivor inside the vehicle near Beldia village of Kaoraid union.
Later, at 2am, the survivor was dropped off in front of her father's house and warned by the prime accused not to speak to anyone about the incident.
