Alauddin Ali laid to rest at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard

Noted music director, composer and lyricist Alauddin Ali has been laid to eternal rest at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, his body was taken to the Film Development Corporation (FDC) at Tejgaon around 2:30pm, where all in attendance paid glowing tributes to him.

After his second namaj-e-janaza there, the body was brought to Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard for burial.

Family members said Ali’s body was taken to his Banasree residence from BIRDEM hospital. He was kept there for sometimes so that his Bangladesh Television (BTV) colleagues and locals could catch their last glimpse at him.

The body was then taken to his ancestral house no 376 in Khilgaon, where his wife Monowara Begum and relatives had a last look at him.

The first namaj-e-janaza for Ali was held at Khilgaon Moor-e-Bagh Jame Mosque at 1:30pm.

Alauddin Ali, the eight-time National Film Award winner and a legendary music director, breathed his last at a city hospital on Sunday at the age of 67.
