A total of 246 Bangladeshi origin French nationals have left Dhaka for France on a special flight arranged by Biman Bangladesh Airlines amid the flight restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic.
The special flight left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for Paris, capital of France, at 12:15pm on Wednesday.
Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier on the day, a special flight of Novoair carried 54 Bangladeshi origin French nationals from Sylhet to Dhaka
The Novoair’s special flight arrived in Dhaka at 7:15am. Later, the passenger departed for Paris on the Biman’s special flight.
All the 246 people, including four infants, are permanent residents of France and were stranded in Bangladesh for the lockdowns following the pandemic. They will soon be able to meet their relatives and join their respective jobs.
An airport official said that to have a smooth journey and avoid hassle, passengers of all flights are carrying reports to certify that they are Covid-19 negative and also following the health guidelines set forth by the government.
