Water crisis? Dial 16162

To tackle existing water crisis which may aggravate during Ramadan, a 24-hour hotline has been introduced to facilitate clients of the Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa). Dhaka Wasa Managing Director Taqsem A Khan told the Dhaka Tribune that Dhaka residents can file complaints for 24 hours to 15 different complaint centres of Wasa throughout the capital. He said: “If anyone faces trouble regarding water supply they can dial 16162 and the concerned Wasa Zone office will be immediately informed. “Consequently, instant measures will be taken to solve the problem as soon as possible depending on the complaint. “In addition, 11 vigilance teams have been prepared to monitor all the water pumps in the Wasa zones,” Taqsem added. The Wasa official said a special service has also been arranged for people who are fasting during Ramadan. The special service includes uninterrupted water supply in the mosques, water tanks being placed in the city’s crowded areas and mobile vehicles providing sufficient water in crowded areas during iftar and sehri hours.
