Police have recovered a woman’s body, with her hands and feet tied from behind, in an under-construction building in the capital.
The recovery was made at Pallabi in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Police, however, are yet to find out the identity of the woman.
Pallabi police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Najrul Islam spoke to Dhaka Tribune on the matter.
He said the law enforcers suspected that the deceased had been raped and then strangled to death.
“We have sent her body to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy. We can say actually what happened after getting the report,” he added.
However, police are trying to find out who left the body there. A forensic team of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was collecting evidence from the scene, the police official said.
The OC mentioned that the police were collecting CCTV footage of the area surrounding the under-construction building to identify those involved in the incident.
“We are also trying to find out the identity of the woman,” he added.
