Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain hospitalized

Chief Justice of Bangladesh Syed Mahmud Hossain has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka due to respiratory issues.

However, he has tested negative for Covid-19, Law Minister Anisul Huq has said.

The chief justice is doing well at the hospital, according to a statement issued by the Supreme Court spokesperson on Thursday.

He was admitted to the CMH because of his pre-existing respiratory complications, the statement added.

Doctors at the hospital also found his sodium level to be low, so he is currently kept under observation in the hospital.

The chief justice has been working from his hospital cabin, and has signed at least 100 files, the statement further added.
