A total of 508 Bangladeshi citizens have arrived on special flights arranged to transport individuals in special circumstances amidst the coronavirus pandemic. 28 foreign nationals, involved in various projects in Bangladesh, also arrived on special flights.
The Bangladeshi nationals, stranded in India, Kuwait, and UAE for over one month during Covid-19 lockdowns, returned home on three separate special flights of Air India, Kuwait Airways, and Air Arabia.
Of them, 4 Bangladeshis returned from India, 290 from Kuwait, and 214 from UAE.
The special KU-1285 flight transporting 290 Bangladeshis from Kuwait landed at 8:00pm at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
The special Air Arabia flight carrying 214 Bangladeshis from UAE landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 8:40pm, said an official of Aviation Security.
They are now at the Probashi Kalyan Desk in the airport for clarification of their returning process.
Earlier in the day, a special flight of Air India (AI-230) carried 4 Bangladeshi nationals home from Kolkata at 11:00am, added aviation security officials, HSIA.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, an airport health official said all returnees underwent thermal scanning at the airport.
“After a proper checking, three Bangladeshis were sent from the airport to the institutional quarantine at Ashkona Hajj Camp ,” said the official.
Foreign nationals
A special chartered flight carrying 5 German and 2 Polish citizens from Germany landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport 11.30pm.
The foreign nationals work at Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant Project in Pabna.
Another special flight carrying 21 Chinese nationals from Guangzhou, who are involved with the Padma Bridge project, landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:20pm, the aviation official said.
