A furniture vendor has been missing since March 30, with the police yet to trace his whereabouts.
Mujibul Huda Chowdhury Biplob, 50, owner of a furniture shop in Rampura’s Wapda Road area, left his home in Khilkhet on the day to go to Baridhara.
Biplob has been missing since then.
Following his disappearance the victim’s wife, Rawshan Akhter, filed a general diary (GD) with Khilkhet police station.
When contacted by Dhaka Tribune, Abul Kalam Azad, sub-inspector (SI) of Khilkhet police station, who is also the investigation officer of GD, said: “We are trying to get his mobile phone call list but are yet to get our hands on it. We are investigating the matter from all possible angles.”
Meanwhile, talking to Dhaka Tribune, Rawshan Akhter said: “My husband Biplob was at home from March 26 till the morning of March 30 due to the Covid-19-related enforced government holiday. He left home to go to Baridhara in the city for work after receiving a call on his mobile at around 10am on March 30.
“When I called him later he said that he was still in Baridhara. After a while when I tried to call him again I found his mobile switched off,” she added.
The couple have two daughters.
“We searched for Biplob in different areas of the capital but couldn’t find him. As far as I know, Biplob didn’t have any enemies and was not in any conflict with anyone.
“So far no one has claimed responsibility for his disappearance or even asked for a ransom,” she added.
