UK takes home another 224 Britons from Dhaka

As many as 224 Britons have flown out of Dhaka on Friday by a special flight arranged by the country’s mission in Bangladesh.

A chartered British Airways flight took off from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4pm, according to a senior civil aviation authority official.

Meanwhile, 26 US citizens left by a chartered flight of Egypt Air at 5.17pm, said Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan, director of the airport.

On April 18, the British High Commission announced that four chartered flights — on April 21, 23, 25, and 26 — have been arranged to take home 850 British nationals.

However, on April 26, five more special flights to London were announced for April 29, May 1, May 3, May 5, and May 7, with a connection from Sylhet.

However, there will be no domestic transfer option available ahead of the flight to the UK May 3.

There are currently no commercial options available to return to the UK due to flight restrictions announced by Bangladesh government.
