The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has delivered food aid to 1,587 families, who felt embarrassed to queue up for relief materials and hence called its hotline.
DSCC Public Relations Officer Uttam Kumar Roy said 10,178 citizens called the hotline so far and among them 2,573 registered for food delivery, reports UNB.
Food was delivered to 1,587 families and the rest will receive it shortly, he said.
The hotline project was implemented by the DSCC at the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he added.
People have been requested to call the hotline numbers – 01709900703 or 01709900704 – to get in touch with DSCC.
The hotline was launched as economic activities came to a halt due to the coronavirus crisis which forced people to stay at home.
Meanwhile, three more people died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 20, according to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).
Meanwhile, 54 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the number of Covid-19 infected in the country to 218, as per IEDCR.
