The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Bangladesh has urged the government to monitor irregularities in relief distribution amid the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
NHRC Public Relations Officer Farhana Syead said this in a press release on Saturday.
In the press release, the NHRC praised the government, various organisations, and the people in general, for their efforts to help the destitute during this crisis.
However, they pointed out the lack of coordination in relief distribution reported by the media.
People are increasing the chance of spreading coronavirus among themselves by not maintaining social distancing during the relief distribution, according to the press release.
So, the NHRC has suggested the government distribute relief rations door to door to make sure people do not gather in the streets for the relief.
NHRC also asked the government to prepare a list of homeless and jobless people who are in desperate need of food and to send relief to them as soon as possible.
