Police has recovered body of an elderly woman from her house in Gandaria's Teker Goli area of Dhaka.
The deceased is Sultana Begum, 75, and her partially decomposed body was found in her house on Thursday around 10:30am, confirmed Gandaria police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman.
Sultana’s son Topu has been taken into police custody for questioning over the matter.
Mizanur said: “Three to four days ago a putrid smell came out from the house. But, today [on Thursday] locals informed the police about it. Then police rushed there and recovered the body.”
At the time, Topu was present when the body was being recovered. He has been in kept at police custody for questioning, he added.
Police further said that the deceased had three sons and two daughters. Of whom, two sons and one daughter lived in the three-storeyed building from where Sultana’s body was recovered.
The elder son lives on the third floor, the daughter on the second and the younger son, Topu, lived with her mother, the police added.
Police are still investigating the matter to find out actually what happened, he said.
