First Bangladeshi elected in the board of directors of ISC

For the first time ever, a Bangladeshi has been elected as a director of the International Society of Criminology (ISC) for a five-year term from 2019-2024. 

Professor of Dhaka University, Dr Zia Rahman, was elected as one of the directors in the board of directors of ISC at the conclusion of the business session of the ISC held in Doha, Qatar from October 27-30, lecturer of the department, ABM Najmus Sakib, said. 

Professor Emilio C Viano of USA, who was president of the Society in the previous term, was re-elected to his post, while Prof Dr Susan Edwards of United Kingdom was elected the general secretary of the board, Najmus Sakib said. 

Professor Zia, also chairman of the Department of Criminology of Dhaka University, represents Bangladesh in the board with other 18 members from other countries of the globe. 

Professor Zia is currently the president of Bangladesh Society of Criminology. He is also the founding member of the Department of Criminology.
