Man with 2.5kg gold at Dhaka airport

Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has detained a man with 2.5 kilograms of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

“Acting on a tip-off, APBn detained Mohammad Arman, 29, from outside the domestic terminal of the airport on Wednesday,” APBn Additional Superintendent (ops and media) Alamgir Hossain said.

Arman arrived at the airport by a Bangladesh Biman flight at 1:45pm from Sylhet.

Police recovered 20 pieces of gold bars, weighing 2.5kg in total, from Arman's body after searching him.

After primary interrogation, Arman admitted that a man named Rupom handed over the gold bars to him during the flight.

"We are trying to identify Rupom," Alamgir added.
